Is it normal for my eye to water at the dentist?

Every time I'm at the dentist or orthodontist my right eye will randomly start to water.
I find it embarrassing because they stop and ask of I'm crying.
It just happens, is my eye dry because I keep it open or is it something else?

    My eyes water, but that's because I cry. My dentist scares me so much!!!

    It's random, I'm not aware of being allergic to anything. So I'm not sure

    does it happen when they start drilling?

    or is it more random?

    from the drilling - it's a pain reflex.
    if it's random then it could be anything from an allergy to something they use, or perhaps just a fear relfex
