Is it normal for my ex boyfriend to call me every 2-3 months?

We dated two years ago while I visiting family in another state. I cam back home, we tried the long distance, he cheated on me and we slowly stop talking to one another.
For the past two years he calls me every 2-3 months. Sometimes he calls and tell me about some girl he is in love with or sometimes he tells me I'm the love of his life and he wish I could be there with him. Then, he disappears and I here from him 3 months later.
It's getting annoying I don't get why he still contacts me. I enjoy talking to him but I don't get the point. Why is he still calling me? Should I just stop talking to him?

    Sounds like he regrets what hes done but the fact that sometimes he tells you hes in love with you and the next time hes in love with someone else is not good for that reason I believe you should cut contact with him for your sake and his

    sounds more like his checking up on YOUR life. (does he ask if you seeing someone?)
    personally i wud cut ties.

    everyone has a "legendary" ex. it means out of all the ex's there's one girl or a guy you had a special connection with. Not necessarily romantic.. some relationships are a disaster from day 1, but the ex still becomes "legendary" for various reasons.

    I've been talking to a legendary ex for the last.. err, almost 5 years. Sometimes we stop and then she emails me, or I do after a few months or a year.

    it's not healthy, I gotta stop answering as well.

    my bf's ex-gf wont stop textinghi even though he's told her to stop. i don't get people like that. they both kept cheeting on eachother because they were unhappy and now it's like she's can't live without him. i get so annoyed and if you do stop talking to him and he does leave you alone your very lucky. i hope you are able to cut him out your life.

      I do enjoy talking to him but at the end of the day its pointless and a waste of time!
