Is it normal for my dr. to tell me this?

Ok, let me start by telling ya'll my medical issue. I have PCOS which for anyone who may not know is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom and it means a woman may not ovulate at all or is very rare. It also means chances of getting pregnant are very slim and have to be put on meds to help and even fertility treatments in more worse case senarios. Pcos causes very irregular periods and in my case I get them twice a year at most, my hair is thinning and caused me to gain weight rapidly and nearly impossible to lose it despite my efforts. Im extremely frustrated as it is and want to lose weight and at 26 im ready to have children but cannot without medical help which is what I am doing now, and all my Dr. Says is I need to lose weight, knowing damn well that with pcos isnt gonna really happen for me as easy as she makes it sound. "just lose like 20 pounds" she says like its as easy as using a toaster. I just wanna know is it normal for a Dr. To blame everything on someones weight, and especially if they know the weight gain is caused by this freaking awful syndrom that I will have the rest of my life!? Sorry to rant so long, and please only serious answers cause im already extremely depressed that I have to try so hard to conceive with all the awful parents out their and women that pop out child after child with no problem, mainly that dugard woman with #20 on the way! Ridiculous!

Have you looked at a website called soulcysters? Cheesy name, I know, but it might give you some great information and support. Lots if women on there, dealing with your situation. Losing weight will indeed help, but you know that already. And it IS more challenging with PCOS -- that's true. But not impossible. It is extremely unfair that you are dealing with this, but many, many women conceive who
have PCOS. Re: the weight loss, Have you tried cutting unhealthy carbs?

Yes Duggar not Dugard, that name signifies a way worse child abuse case!

Hmm, now I see you're sensitive and I understand it must be hard. Certainly friends and family are good to provide a shoulder for this.
But your doctor has told you a FACT.
Weight (extra weight) on a person who wants to be a mom one day is NOT good. The main concern is fat is extremely unhealthy, it is the source of many illnesses and can be fatal.

Hard facts - Lose the weight, not 20 pounds, all of it.
You have been told. Twice now, it seems.

There are so many ways to lose weight! Not eating is obviously NOT an option. Diet is 80% of it; it's not just about working out and/or exercising. Stop eating junk foods entirely, eat less carbs, because you're not burning them off if you're gaining weight. Over time, you will lose weight naturally.

I have the same thing. It doesn't bother me at all, I love it, It bother me when I get my period. Just take the medicine will make you ovulate and after the first baby most problably it will fix the problem because pregnancy is a whole change of hormones a burst of hormone that will make you regular. I had my second baby with no problem. My hair problem is terrible I have more hair than my husband, but we love each other very much that is more importan. I get fat easily, but you know what , starvation make everybody thin. Avoid all junk food, breads, hotdog, soda, hamburger. Have cereal in the morning skin milk, salad and fruits for lunch, with cheese, beans and tofu replace protein in the meat and have no fat. and soups at night. .. you will fine, Change doc if make you feel dum. YOU will fine, get the medice have your baby and be happy.. hair, fat will not hurt you, just avoid the "bad" food.

You need to lose 20 pounds. This is what the doctor told you. If you don't want to lose the weight that is up to you. The doctor told you what to do to get better. If you are too fucking stupid to listen to the doctor than that's all on you. No its not like its always easy its not for anyone.

My best female friend suffers with it. Rather than thinning hair, it makes her grow more hair on her arms than she thinks she should have. She has irregular periods, and she's a little overweight. She's found herself a long-term relationship now and, at 28, is thinking about children. The doctor has told her that there's a drug which can bring on ovulation (I don't remember the name, sorry) and this will increase her chances. There was another treatment too which requires minor surgery.

Losing weight can increase fertility and I suppose it's worthwhile mentioning, but not at the cost of other, more effective, treatments.
