Is it normal for my dad to be so irresponsible?

I have little jobs to do around the house.. Chores. Mop the floor, clean the bathroom, yadda yadda. Like everybody else, I'm not perfect, so of course I forget to do something or don't do it so great every once in a while. This ticks my dad off a bit, but my mistakes are minor & can go on unnoticed. His on the other hand..
Well, I start community college in 2 days (small business major, changing it to accounting next semester). I only have one outdated contact in my eye, no license, and no car. I've asked my dad on NUMEROUS occasions to take me to get an updated prescription & a few new sets of contacts lenses so I can stop walking around with fuckvision. I've also asked him to print off a copy of the proof of insurance (which he constantly tells me I'm on) so I can go up to the DMV where I'd take my road test to get my full license. On every occasion I've gotten different variations of "Tomorrow, we'll definitely do it."
I have no way of getting to school on the first day, and even if I do I can't see much.. Is this his weird way of him teaching me a life lesson? Somebody, please let me know..

Thats not like my dad... but fits in with mom! She says," Go clean up this room 'for me' " when I come to the same room she's in 'cause my dad was kicked out when I was 8... Best dad ever, but he visits anyways.

Ah! And my mom smokes now...
She's depressed. Even if I tell her to stop, she never stops smoking.

Awww, fuckvision. Your dad seems like a big butthead. Is there no one who can help you with that stuff?

I thought I was the only one who walked around with just one contact in. Glad to hear I'm not alone. I've no advice about your dad but if you sellotape your non-contact eyelid down, you can see just fine. You'll look like an idiot but you'll be able to see. And at least you won't look as daft as a friend of my dad. The frames on his glasses broke so he sellotaped the lenses to his eyebrows. Which was fine until he lent forward and they swung out from his face.

That made me laugh as I could just picture him!

Anyway, your dad's just lazy! Sit beside him when he's watching tv with the laptop and type in the website for him. Guide this little child and use your fingers to type the keyboard for him. What a prat!!

I don't know your medical system but can you not make an appointment with a local optician, and either go alone or tell your dad you've an appointment and he has to take you.

Sounds like you're going to have to lead this idiot by the nose, on top of all your other work. If he's not an alcoholic or depressed, he's a lazy parent.
