Is it normal: for my current boyfriend to befriend my exboyfriend?

Me and my ex-boyfriend didn't have the best break-up story because he was the first guy I really loved and there is still some resentment toward him.

I am a very distant friend to my ex because we have mutual friends. However, my boyfriend is starting to become friends with my ex. It's starting to annoy me because I am sometimes forced to be around my ex when I really don't want to. Because of this, I talk about how much I don't like him. I am telling my boyfriend that I don't want to be around my ex as often as I currently am, and he is just telling me that I always talk negatively about him.

What do you think? Am I overreacting?

My wife is better friends with some of my exes than I am.
I have no problem with this. I know they have compared notes and giggled about my quirks.
If you liked a dude enough to have a relationship with him, IMO, there ought to be enough to sustain civility, if not a friendship.

As long as the ex isn't being a dick, why not try treating him like a person you like?

I'd let them two get on with it - if they want to hang out together. Just don't be in the middle.

Maybe you'll grow to not mind him as much if you let this continue? Whats the worst that can happen except that it's upsetting for the time being. Maybe not though, I would think your currenf bf would want nothing to do with him
