Is it normal for my best friend to behave this way ?

hi everyone !
so me and my best friend we friends for 6 years ... she was not a perfect best friend but she was my only close friend in school . My high school finished so me and my best friend didn't meet often but talked on the phone . My birthday was coming soon so i invited all my friends and obviously invited her too, i spoke to her the previous day before my birthday and she told that she will come to my birthday for sure .
On the day of my birthday she didn't come to birthday at all
i contacted her so several times but she did not pick her cell up . I was very upset to know that my best friend did not come to my birthday , but at least she could have given me a message for the reason for her not coming to my birthday . I was angry for that fact that after my birthday she never called me at all . After 11 days she called me and said that she was sick and so she could not come to my birthday . But even if she was sick at least she could have called me and told me why she couldent make it ?!
i never spoke to her after that , i wanted her to call me up and ask me why am i not talking to her .But she never called me ... its been almost a year and me and my best friend never spoke to each other . One day i even cried TT_TT
and it pisses me off whenever i see her in facebook with her other new friends she made in college . It makes me think that she betrayed me . She is such a horrible friend !

    She was probaly so sick she couldn't pick up her phone. Also move on life 2 short 2 think about the pass.

    this reminded me when i was 12 and this happend to my best friend i had a crush on i got relly sick and i had to go to the hospital they took away my phone and she was pissed you could be over reacting dude people can get sick and loose there phone or somthing and it sounds like you like her :) and thats ok she probbaly didnt fell comftorbal about it or somthin

    well for her not to come to your party and not contact you, someting must have happened. Its just not on for a best friend to do that unless something happened or changed. You should of confronted her about it at the time but you cant do anything about it now its happened and over with she has obviously moved on and so should you. everything happens for a reason so i say move on and make other friends beside someone who stabbs you in the back , is obviously not a best friend anymore.

    During the 11 days following your birthday, was she updating Facebook and doing other things? Maybe she really was sick?

    Maybe there's something more to it that you haven't considered?

      no no . the 11 days was during the holidays ! after two months our college started and she made new friends there !

    Stiffen upper lip! It's her loss girl. She'll be kicking herself when she realizes the great friend she lost.
