Is it normal for my best friend to be obsessed with me

Okay me and this guy have been friends since 6th grade and we're seniors now. But he's really possesive, and I dont acknowledge it. I stay in denial. He always hugs me a-little longer, tells me he loves me, and wants to hold hands and wrap his arm around me. Which I don't let him most of the time unless he just does it. I just brush it off and try to be ignorant most of the time. He always texts me all hours of the night, and he always ends up dumping his girlfriends if they even say something bad about me. He always chases away boys who are interested in me and tells me it's only because he's looking out for me. He dosen't like me spending time away from him and likes to control me. I don't bring it up because he's so nice and caring and we've been friends for so long. He's also always there for me through thick and thin, I just don't know why he acts like this to me. So is it normal for him to be this obsessed with me?

    He's obviously in love with you ever since and he is either too shy or afraid to tell you.

    It's normal. He's in love with you and mostly obsessed with you. You need to talk to him about this. He's pretty much running your life. A boy can't talk to you without him getting in between? You really need to talk to him about this before it gets worste in the future or when you two are adults.

    It sounds like he wants to be more than just friends with you. If that's the case and you don't feel the same way about him, you should probably let him know somehow.

    Well thanks for all the advise everyone and I talked with him about..he didn't handle it as well as I thought he would and completly lost it..So im just going to let things calm down a-little before I speak with him again. I feel guilty but also relieved. So thanks for the advise!
