I am 23 years old and have been sucking my thumb since I was 3. I think it is completely normal. Thumb sucking doesn't automatically mean you will end up with buck teeth, It depends where you apply the pressure while sucking, I would place it on the roof of my mouth...It's just a habit that is hard to break. A lot of people find it strange and unacceptable especially for someone who isn't a baby. She is probably just a sweet, shy little girl who finds comfort and peace when thumb sucking:)

i sucked mine till i was 14 lol ... im not sure if its normal coz i only did it when in bed or watching T.V

When I was little, to get me to stop sucking my thumb they told me that only babies sucked their thumb and that I was a big girl. I never did it again. But that's just me. It might be a little harder than that.

She has buck teeth already and they r getting worse

I stopped at 15 yrs old, and the whole teeth thing is just a ploy to get parents to make their kids stop since its not sociably acceptable. My teeth never changed at all. I don't have buck teeth and my teeth are straight. Don't sweat it, she'll stop on her own.

If this helps or not there is a nailpolish type thing you can get from a doctor or pharmacy, it is clear like nailpolish and you paint there thumbs but when they put there thumb in there mouth the nailpolish creates a gross sour taste so the won't suck on it

i stopped sucking my thumb at 7 i dnt know if its normal but i know for a fact i stopped when i was ready n cuz i wanted to so im sure she will stop when she wants

I sucked mine till I wad 9. My parents helped me stop by paing me $2 every day I didn't suck my thumb and got me lots of blow pops and tootsie pops to help keep me from using my thumb.

Its a gross habit & she's too old!

I sucked mine til I was 8 and an orthodontist got my parents to make me stop. Take some like medical bandage tape and wrap it around her thumb at night if the usual sour or spicy methods don't work.

I sucked mine til I was 7 my parents tried everything and nothing worked until I got an appliance put in my mouth that wouldn't allow me to put my thumb in there. I had to get braces because of sucking my thumb. She needs to stop. It's not good

No she is way too old to be doing that still. And she needs to stop or her teeth will get messed up from it.
