My sister was thirsty at a party ad all was left was some beer. She had to drink some, but she also drank tap water after that... We were 7 at the time.
Depends why she 'craves' it.
Is it that she wants to try it out of curiosity? Teenagers and adults get drunk all the time and when kids observe that behaviour it's normal to want to emulate it.
Is there any alcoholism in her blood line? I'd say you ought to give her some and let her try it with you first. If you say no, she's gonna do it in a less safe environment.
I would (and did) give her a bottle of vodka and some juice and let her get drunk right there with you. She'll have fun for about 15 minutes, get sick, then fall asleep and wake up with a terrible hangover. My daughter never had another drink until she was an adult and even now she drinks sparingly, things like Kahlua, Baily's Irish Cream etc.
If you prohibit it, it will become the forbidden fruit and later it may become a big problem for you both.
No matter what this person says, DO NOT GIVE YOUR CHILD A BOTTLE OF VODKA. For fuck sake.
When I was there my mom took me to a dinner party where someone left a glass of orange vodka on the floor and I drank if all thinking it was orange juice and I waddled around a bit, fell asleep( my mom thought I was dead), she took me to the hospital, turns out I have amazingly strong kidneys and liver.
I wouldn't give her the whole bottle, but that's the point of you being there with your child. To limit them when you think they've had enough... Would you rather your child go out to a party with or without your consent and get absolutely shit faced?
that's actually a legitimate idea. As long as you're with them the first time- ruin the experience and make them feel sick just thinking about it. It should help later in life.
I started craving at that age too and my mom gave me some of her cotton candy vodka. I liked it but didn't, but wanted some more later on. She let me drink wine and beer too. Both my parents were fine with it. Now I'm so used to the taste, it doesn't bother me. Let her try it, but make sure you supervise her while doing it.
The first time I had alcohol was when I was four.I didn't start drinking excessively until I was nine.I ended up quitting when I was seventeen, because it really began to take a toll on my life.I personally wouldn't advise letting your child to begin drinking at an early age.I can guaranty you that once shes had a really bad hang over, that she will lose that crave for alcohol real quick at the age she is.
I think as long as you supervise how much she drinks and only give her a little bit, it's fine. A little amount of alcohol never hurt anybody. I was 10-14 when I had my first taste of alcohol (not including Nyquil).
I would have little tastes of parents' alcohol drinks almost every night since at least that age, it's normal in most cultures just depends how you feel about it. And I've never been drunk or had the desire to consume it in excess,
