Is it normal for my 3 year old son to talk to walls?

The other day when my sister was over, I walked into a room and saw my 3 year old son, Alexander, talking to the wall. I know they say that kids have wild imaginations but when I asked him who he was talking to he looked up at me like i was crazy and said "No one. There's only the wall" and walked off....

  • The wall was the smartest person he could find at the time.

Hmmm.. I didn't start talking to the wall until i was 13 and started smoking weed. Maybe he is advanced for his age.

Maybe he thinks the wall is alive. He is 3 right? Maybe he does not understand the concept that not all things are living.

Kids find friends in the weirdest places if he is having imaginary friends maybe he feels lonely.

I don't know what to think. There could be many explanations for this. 1. He thinks the wall is alive. 2. He has an imaginary friend. 3. He's sensitive to spirits. The list goes on.... It's odd, but from what you put it sounds okay. If it escalates and get somewhat creepy, you might want to take him to a child therapist (Don't put him on meds!) or just ask him about it.

Depends what the wall was saying back. If it was,

"Hello there, I'm a friendly wall! I support the roof through hard times!" Then that's cool.

    If it was,

"Hello there, I'm a homicidal wall! I think you should kill mummy and daddy! I heard them planning to kill you so you better get there first! Then we can rule the house together! Stab them in the neck Alex! It's a fun game! STABBY STAB STAB! REDRUM REDRUM REDRUM..."

Then hide all sharp objects and take him to a therapist :/

Sounds strange, but I imagine he was just having a moment of wild imagination. I think you should only start to worry if he does it repeatedly.

The title made me laugh really hard. Apparently my Mum used to talk to the brick wall a lot when I didn't listen to her.

He's 3... get over it. I know, you think because he said "No one, it's just the wall." that he's mentally retarded, but seriously, I've seen some guys that could do that when they're 10 and still be normal. HE'S 3. I was surprised he was actually OLD ENOUGH to say "No one, it's just the wall." But yes, do get over it, it's no big deal AT ALL.

He doesn't like you..... so he would rather speak to a wall.
