Is it normal for my 14-year-old sister to feel like this?

So my sister is 14, and she keeps havig these feelings which are scaring her.
She started questioning her sexual orientation when she was 13, and now she's stressing so much, literally she's shaking and cries, and panics.

Basically, here's the story.
- She has this ongoing crush on a guy on TV, like since she was 11.
- But now, she said she has a crush on a couple of women.
- She just started questioning in a day, like one moment she was straight, the next she was worrying.
- She has no female friends her age (or male - no friends)
Anyway, she really wants to ask a question to heterosexual people, because she needs to know. If you're gay or bi, please don't answer - she's not prejudiced, but she needs the info from straight people only.
- As a teen, did you ever fantasize, make out, or have a crush on a girl and get turned on? Then become straight?
- Have feelings for those of the same sex, then become straight?
- Go through wildly contrasting phases (changing about ever two weeks, maybe less) where you knew you were straight€, then thought you were bi, then straight, then bi?
She just doesn't want to be bi, she's fancied guys all her life but she keeps feeling really turned on by the thought of women - this literally seems to be one thing one day, another the next?
Sometimes she has no doubt in her mind that she is straght.

Is this just hormones, perhaps? Do you think that she'll probably turnout straight?

It's definitely normal to question your sexuality, especially when you're young. However, a crush is just a crush. Straight people can get homosexual crushes and homosexual people can get heterosexual crushes. It's perfectly normal. Until your sister starts dating people, she won't really know for sure what her sexual orientation is and shouldn't worry too much about labeling herself as a particular orientation right now.

I identify as straight but but sometimes I find myself slightly attracted to a guy. dating or sleeping with the doesn't interest me though.

To be honest I think she sounds normal.

If she turns out straight then great And even if she is bi that doesn't stop her from liking guys too. There is nothing wrong with being gay either. The point I am making is that whatever sexual orientation she turns out to have it's totally fine and shouldn't be worried about.

TBH: I was curious when i was 14, thing with teenagers is that we can think we feel one way but then feel another, like one day she might think she is in love and turns out it was just her horimones(however you spell it). It is normal, all teenagers have been curious, Heck,I was curious at one point, dont know what i was thinking!!! :( and i agree with Naruto dude, Phase indeed

Okay i'm going to say this straight off, YOU CAN'T TURN STRAIGHT, you are born straigt bi gay lez, whatever and besides she is 14. She is probably going through puberty what do you think would happen. So it is probably a phase and also assure that no matter her decision, you will always accept and love her.

Why is she worrying? Does she have something against lesbians? Perhaps she's afraid of what her parents would think?

No, she doesn't care, and her parents are utterly cool. She could have a sex change and they'd still be cool.
I just think she's straight to be honest.

I am 22 and I can tell you that I am going to marry my boyfriend who happens to be a man. So that might qualify me as straight to most people. But I don't love my boyfriend because he's a man. I love him because of who he is as a person. I have had crushes on many other people both guys and girls and I have never loved anyone like I love my boyfriend. Nothing can be predicted about love.. you can only wait and see what happens.

Explain to her that it is perfectly normal, and strait people have bi curious crushes all the time! And make sure she knows that either way, you will be there to support her! She just needs to grow into herself and figure things out.

    Yes.

Many straight girls have female crushes. It's usually out of admiration, rather than sexual attraction. Girls won't always notice this difference since they only think about the feeling and not the cause.

I think it may be hormones and she will turn out straight.

The first real surge of sex hormones can promote all kinds of temporary sexual feelings , however if certain feelings persist than she may be bi.

At that age, it's normal to get turned on by about anything. Unless you start thinking of cuddling, marriage, loving them, etc I wouldn't be worried. Just don't live out any fantasies you aren't emotionally comfortable with (which you should be uncomfortable with most at your age) and you'll be fine.

Yes, but my mum had fantasies of just about everything at my sis's age- i really don't think that thoughts can change her.

I'm not speaking so much of thoughts, more of feelings. Everyone wonders what the taboo is like. Emotions aand actions make reality.

I never thought about guys sexually at that age (i'm a guy). I was too busy thinking about boobs and vagina. So she is probably bi and there is really nothing wrong with it. She shouldn't be worried at all.

I still don't think about guys sexually... unless its myself

Okay so you're saying that it's me writing these posts, posing as a kid. No, I'm not. As it happens I don't even live with her anymore. I live woth my husband and children in Ireand and she lives with my folks in England.

It's completely normal she is probably bisexual since she likes both. But if she hasn't been attracted to any guys recently like in the past 2 years she is leaning more to lesbian.

She is flat out in love with a guy. To be honest, I'd laugh if she were even bisexual. . I just think she's straight, because my mum obviously knows her well and thinks, after all her crushes on men, and no crushes on women, that she's straight. Especially as it varies from day to day.

I didn't have those feelings, but I heard this is very common. as everything is deveoling in this age, the sexualtity also does. that's why she changes her mind everyday. it's just a phase, and soon she will know for sure.

i think there's a very good chance she is straight.

but factually, in this age, it's almost impossible to tell.
Girls who become wild lesbians 10 years later will have silent crushes on guys and act all shy.
Others will experiment with their girlfriends but end up marrying a guy as virgin a couple years later.
It's a time of hormonal crazyness, and everything goes, and being confused about one's own "orientation" is normal.
So a girl-crush, even if it turns into a sleepover with homosexual experimentation, nowhere near suggests that either will be bisexual or a lesbian later on.
Neither does it mean that a girl that goes through this phase without even thinking about another girl theoretically will end up being straight later.

            :)
So ya, it's her hormones being crazy and she has a good chance of being "straight". But at her age, it's impossible to tell ANYTHING for sure.
