A lot of people have Irish heritage in their family. Just like my family. But I've never heard of anyone saying that they wanted to be Irish.

I bet the person who submitted this is Irish? Most Irish people I have met think everyone wishes they were Irish. I once told an Irish girl that I am half Irish (which I am because my Dad is 100% Irish) and she said, "Thats what people say when they wish they were Irish" I don't know where they get this idea from. It is so arrogant and pathetic.

No one wants to be Irish. You guys were nearly wiped out by a freakin' potato famine...POTATOES. It didn't occur to the Irish to nom on something different?

And riverdancing is fuckin' boring. Tappity, tappa, tappa...the origin of that crap must have been a dance to try and bring back the taters.

I wish I wasn't Irish, because I have very light skin, and it burns very easily. Its not that I'm ashamed of who I am. I just wish I had more skin pigmentation for completely utilitarian and practical reasons.

Blood and ancestry matters! I was born and lived all my life in America but it was never my home and I always knew it ever since i was a child. So i returned to Europe. I am glad my son was born in his homeland and not in that multi- cultural sewer where i came from.

LOL I have noticed that too, they call themselves irish americans. People may have people from irish anchestory or whatever but you can only be the nationality of the country you were born and raised in. There is'nt any such thing as a true blooded irelander either because these islands only came to be because people from the norman conquest and the romans and the vikings came and settled there. My grandad was irish but i don't call myself irish or scots irish. I'm just scottish and that's it.

Nearly every white person I know (including myself) is at least some Irish. That or German. But I've never heard anyone say they wanted to be Irish...

You don't have to be born somewhere to have that ancestory. My great grandparents were Irish. Therefore I have Irish ancestory. The only time we all want to be Irish is on st patricks day. That's about it.

No i don't give a shit about being Irish. Maybe if more people in this damn country would take pride in calling themselves Americans, we would fare a little better.

lol wtf?! it's not like a big percentage of us r like "OMG i wish i was irish" some americans think gingers don't have souls so they wouldn't dare being a redhead (but in my honest opinion i think redheads r cute boys and girls).
