Is it normal for me to still be afraid of the dark?

Okay, so ive been afraid of the dark my whole life, and i still am today. I either have to sleep with a lamp, or the tv on.
Also, i cant fall asleep if my room is dead silent. I either have to listen to music, or have a isolating fan on. But i dont know if that is a seprate issue.
But anyways, I'm 19 years old, and im curious if this is normal for someone my age to still be dealing with?

If you want to do something about it, face your fear.

Try sleeping in pitch darkness for a while. The first night will be difficult and frightening but then you should slowly get used to it and after a while you'll realise that nothings going to get you.

haha.... thats alll normal ... i too am scared of dark... but dark can do nothing to us... believe me... !!! you just have to make sure that every thing is secure and the best way for it is to not face it...
LIKE no offence if you sleep with a lamp on...!!!

I'm 35 years old and still sleep with the tv and the fan on, not because I'm afraid of the dark, but I need "white noise" to sleep. This is perfectly normal.

Fear of the dark is one of the three major fears that we have.....

I'm pretty sure there's no age limit when it comes to phobias. Besides, fear of the dark is actually fear of the unknown and everyone fears what they don't know in some way.

    I say normal.

You know that there's still light outside in the night time. Its not pitch black that we can't even see the nightsky.
Try leaving your blind/curtain in your bedroom slightly up, or slightly away from the window, allowing the night light to come in. This is the only amount of light you need.

As for the noise. Do you live on a remote island? There's cars and planes and wind and rain and even cats and dogs, and you name it that creates noise during the night.
