Is it normal for me to sleepwalk with a knife in my hand?

As the Title mentions, I have no idea why I do this, but I've done it since 9/11/01, when I was 3. I would climb on top of the counter and grab a knife, and walk the hall ways. I didn't lose anyone during the attacks, heck no one has died. I'm looking for real answers, for therapists, MRI scans, CAT scans and brain and mind specialists can't find what triggers it. If you're going to call me a freak, please make that the first thing you say, so then you can actually put in some advice as such. My mom has survallence so if I walk into my parents or sisters room an alarm sounds, so I'm not going to murder people. Thank you.

wtf? if ur parents know about this y won't they hide/lock away the knives? Even if u subconsciencely knew they were hidden there wouldn't be a chance of u finding them and i'm sure u were too young to be affected from 9/11

I think you should be locked in your room or strapped to your bed. Maybe if you slept like that enough, the problem could just disappear.

Nah, that's NOT normal. And instead of putting alarms in your family's rooms, his lock away the knives.

no, its NOT normal. I think you should have the knives locked away (asa people have said before) and keep a diary and umm.... yerrr... if it keeps going tell as many people as possible that could have ideas to help.

  • Ok so the knives have been locked up, however I always find them. I'm a vegitatarian because of health problems, hmmmmm I always listen to classical before I got to sleep. And brain and mind specialists have tried to help, but no link.

It almost sounds fake, but so did my brother waking up screaming that there is a dead Indian in his bed and sleepwalking outside in his underwear. PTSD is ALWAYS something you need to look into and the scary part is like with me, they don’t know what caused it. Based on that, I’m lost. In my brother’s case, he was eating too much bologna. A doctor later explained to us that the dye they use in bologna is nasty and should only be consumed in moderation. He was eating it 2 to 3 times a day. Stop watching scary movies. I actually stopped breathing in my sleep one time and woke up with no hearing because I was suffocated; because I kept having a dream affiliated about the movie Evil Dead part 2. My hearing restored minutes later. The doctor told me “What do you want me to do, stop watching scary movies.” Chemical imbalances can be triggered simply by what you eat or don’t eat. This might be something you have to figure out on your own. Keeping an accurate log of your daily intake over the next few months and logging the effects. Of course doctors can point you in the direction right off the bat, in terms of what chemicals you might look at first.

  • I was 5 on 9/11 and I hardly remember it so I don't thick it's that. Also you shouldn't have come to get help. Get REAL help. And like person said above why haven't your parenets locked the knives away?

I doubt it has anything to do with 9/11 because you were too young to be affected. Sounds like sleep walking, I used to sleep walk until I was about 12. A simple solution, your parents should lock the knives in a drawer/safe/box, w/e and keep the key w them at night. If they haven't thought of that, then I doubt this is real. No parent would let their child wander aimlessly through the house with a knife at night.
