Is it normal for me to quit smoking easily?

I quit smoking cold turkey and I've been doing fine, no withdrawals like I've heard most people go through.
I'll think about smoking once every one or two weeks but it's not like 'omg I need a cig' but more like 'oh yeah good times'
is it normal to not have withdrawals?

  • I used to smoke and I quit easily I think people are pathetic how they cant just stop doing a habit. Some people lack self control.

I worked with a guy who tried to stop smoking on a National No Smoking day. He lasted until 10.30am. We couldn't speak to him coz he was so bad-tempered, but when he went bright red and started shaking and sweating he had to leave to go to a nearby shop and buy a packet.

I was only 19 at the time and after seeing that I decided I would never start and try to encourage others to stop ASAP.

If you are talking about weed then yes, it is normal.

Weed withdrawals are easily tolerated by most people.

I was very easy to quit smoking, if you only been smoking for 6-7 years.

The book by Allen Carr explains a lot about how cigarette addiction works, how we actually work quite hard to become addicted and when we stop the withdrawals are really quite tiny and harmless. It all just depends on your frame of mind. You seem to trivialise your time as a smoker, which is absolutely the right approach I think, because really what did you ever get out of it?

It's a habit, yes. But it's also an addiction. And ItDuz, you're only 18, how long could you have been smoking??? I've tried many times and HAVE had withdrawals. I applaud the both of you for quitting and I hope to one day quit myself.

It's all in your head. It pisses me off to no end when people say "cigarettes are harder to quit than herion", that is BULLSHIT-they've OBVIOUSLY never quit herion!! Shit like that is probably propaganda from the tobacco companies to make you THINK you are hopelessly physically addicted to cigarettes and can never quit.

I've quit smoking a few times before and I've never experienced physical "withdrawal"-that is a JOKE. It's no different than breaking any other habit, it's a pain to get out of the routine of it, and it's aggrivating, just like quitting anything else you enjoy. But physical pain and agony? No, doesn't happen.
