How are you trying to lose weight? Are you just cutting stuff out, or trying to make a lifestyle change?

It is very difficult to lose weight, especially if you're going for the starve-myself-to-skinny method. I've been working on losing weight, too, through better habits. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Making spicy fried green beans instead of French fries. Sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes. White meat and dark greens instead of steak and starch. Honey instead of sugar. Pepper instead of salt. Salsa or hummus instead of ketchup. Cooking at home instead of fast food.

Changing your lifestyle will be much more effective than just dieting, and you will KEEP the weight off! Also, I have a much keener taste for good quality food now that i never did when I ate so much fast food.

Lastly, do you know how they make those mcnuggets? Whenever you read "mechanically separated chicken", its when they take the remaining chicken after butchering the good whole parts, stick it in a blender, then through a sieve to catch all the bone bits (now you know what those hard bits are in your nuggets!) Still want to eat that? Doing some research will help reinforce your new good habits!

I've found the best way to lose weight is to make a small change that'll add up over time. If you cut everything out, you feel like you are missing out on something, or that your diet is temporary. If you have three biscuits a day, cut down to two. Or eat 5% less each meal. Then, in a month, cut a little bit more. Keep cutting gradually until you get to the weight you want and then stick to that regimen.

Alternatively, change what you eat as opposed to how much you eat. It's possible to fill yourself up without too much sugar or fat and with meals still being tasty.

Drink like heaps of water, 2-3 pints before you eat anything and you will be so full already. It works really well.

Cut out sugar -- candy, cookies, pies, cakes, sweetened sodas, sugary cereals, etc. Sugar in the blood causes a person to be hungry, thus, they eat more and more. AFter a couple weeks of no sugar, you'll feel better and once you've been sugar-free for a month or so, you can start eating less cheese and other fattening foods. Cutting out sugar is like taking an appetite-suppressant -- you're not as hungry, you have more energy and you feel 100% better and the better you feel, the more active you will become.
