Is it normal for me to get my wisdom teeth at 17?

I'm 17 (and 5 months) and I have this terrible pain in the left side of my jaw. It's been like this for two days and painkillers help but only for a little bit. It's only in the left side though so I'm unsure if its my wisdom teeth... I've also been getting really bad headaches lately, (I've been battleing migraines for nearly three years now but I can tell that this is different). I've also been feeling really dizzy and had blurred vision. Are these normal syptoms or do you think it may be something else?

Very normal. The left side could be impacted - meaning its kinda under another tooth, or coming in wrong - which is why it is hurting so much (little note, if they're impacted & dental isn't included in your insurance, being impacted makes it medical, i.e. insurance will pay for it!)

Definitely get an appointment with your dentist.

HOWEVER, the headaches/dizziness make me think that you've started grinding your teeth in your sleep, or during the day. I do that occasionally, especially going to sleep with a migraine, having a stressful day, etc. So after you get that dentist appointment, buy a mouth guard from your local drugstore, see if that helps, until you get to the dentist.

Thanks, your comment helped a lot. I never really thought about grinding my teeth as a possibility, I know my mom does it though. I will definitely be seeing a dentist soon.

You probably didnt get your wisdom teeth, but rather your second set of molars :-) wisdom teeth are much bigger molars, and they dont usually come in until around age 20.

  • Mine are finally nearly done causing my gums pain but every so often the right one will hurt again, like "missed a little bit!" >.<

Yeah I'm getting mine too, I can't feel anything yet though. My dentist wants me to get them out within the next couple months though because it will be easier before they get their roots. Just go see your dentist!

Yes, normal. I am 22 and am just NOW getting mine in.

My top-right one is bludgeoning it's way down as we speak.

But it is normal for them to cause a great amount of pain for the person who was them coming down. Make an appointment with a dentist quick, and they'll figure out a solution.
