Is it normal for me to fall asleep to videos like this?

I don't know why but sometimes, when i'm trying to get to sleep, I lay in bed beside my laptop listening to hour-long videos of The Atheist Experience. Just listening to people argue with each other about the topics they do is really soothing for me and it really helps me sleep, is this normal?

Sometimes, things that are the opposite of what we think of as 'soothing' make us sleepy. The recent live action Speed Racer movie made me want to sleep, and it was loud and fast-paced and full of flashy shiny gadgetry.

However, it was so much information to take in at once that my perception of it was skewed, like my head decided (for my sanity) to compress it down to a much less intense experience. And just happened to compress it to the point where it was soothing white noise, like those little electronic things that play ocean waves and things to calm people down.

It's possible that for you, loud/fast-paced/intense arguments are similar. Your mind says "augh, to heck with listening to all of this" and perceives it instead as white noise, and something to which you can fall asleep.

If you grew up in a house with many arguments going on in the background, this might also contribute to your mind's choice to view it as a sign of safety/home where other people might feel stressed and perceive loud noises as a threat.

I wouldn't exactly say arguments are personally soothing to me.
I fall asleep to light hearted films or sleep music.
