Is it normal for me to be sad when my bf don't get me bday gift?

Hi ! It's my birthday today! And I'm really happy spending my bday with my bf, except that when when pick me for dinner, he gave me a gift, he said it's from him and his siblings... And I was not happy bout it... I was sad and I guess he can tell... Am I normal? Or he will thinks that I m materialistic? Or you guys think that
I'm materialistic too? I really am confused. But it turns out he wanted to give me a surprise. He did prepare another gift for me. But I ruined the night by showing a sad face right?

    If he did have a surprise, then why are you still sad ? And even if he didn't, he took you out to dinner and spent the night with you.

    Hmmmm. Don't worry about it too much. Maybe you we're only sad cause he didn't give you something personal. I'm sure that if he had made you a flower out of duct tape, you would have been happy. If not, then maybe you are materialistic. Don't worry ! and no I'm pretty sure that if you had a wonderful night, then he had a wonderful night as well :D

    if he got you something later on, yes, you are being a bitch. dont expect anything and you cant be disappointed. he was being more romantic by planning a surprise and if he were smart he would ditch your ass if you pulled something that selfish again.
