Is it normal for kids not to know which food is which?

I was watching Jamie oliver on YT talk to a class on first graders somewhere on the east coast. He has a bag of fresh produce from the grocery store. The children coupdnt name almost any of it. They didn't know what potatoes, celery, avacado, apricot, cabbage, or anything. So I took my niece to to the grocery store with me last week. She is 7 years old. She didn't know half of the stuff either without looking at the labels. Wtf is happening? What the hell do they teach kids in school now adays? I'm 100% sure I knew almost all that crap when I was a kid. Then I made my do it LOL she didnt know half the stuff either.

Sadly, i think so many parents believe it is the schools responsibility to teach their kids everything, including manners.

Yep, Mommy and Daddy ought to bear much of the responsibility of feeding kids healthy food and not just junk and fast food.

I'll bet more than half of the kids in the US of A have no idea of which animal a McDonald's hamburger's meat is from. The process of "dumbing down" the population is well underway, and it won't be too many more generations before the "working class" human will be seriously less intelligent than the elite. Busy, busy little worker bees keeping the king and queen bees happy.

There should be agricultural produce identification courses available in all schools immediately! This failure to properly identify produce must end!

Like... in the years I used to work at Safeway in highschool I saw JUST ONCE, a guy showing his kid what was what in a grocery store. No wonder frozen foods outsell produce by almost 2x.

America's educational system has fallen. It is no longer the too ranked educational system in the world. Fast food culture has also infiltrated the homes of many. This what many kids know. It's ridiculous and sad. Very sad.
