Is it normal for humans to take so long to fully mature?

I personally think it takes us too long to reach full independency between the ages of 18-21 (or more depending on each individual's maturity levels). I think instead of becoming "adults" at 18, we should find a way of speeding our aging process to the point where we're grown by age 10.

Every other creature grows up alot quicker than us. So I think to make a large step as a species, we need to quicken the aging process. I mean, yes we would have shorter childhoods, we'd be able to have kids by ages 7-9, and we'd die alot sooner, but I think it'd be a good thing.

We are more advanced and thus take more time...
if you notice the more complex a creature is the longer it stays with its parents.

There is just too much to learn.

What you are suggesting would not be good

Every animal matures quicker but most also die faster, it's all relative, plus the education and social intricacies of humans are more complicated than the process of hunting and homebuilding shared by other animals therefore there's more to learn

Well we mature early physically, it's the mental maturity we need to work on. I don't think that how long a person stays in school or the decision of the state determines our age of maturity.
