Is it normal for houses to have different smells?

Each time i walk into a house especially the first time it's as if it has a unique smell to it. Not like bad odors but just a different smell. Also im sure my house does too but i dont recognize a smell when i come into my own.

Of course. We get used to our own smells, either body smells or the way our room smells, our car. Its always different in other peoples homes. Whoever lives there has their own smell on top of whatever other scents are lingering throughout the place. Some houses smell like total shit but the owner is oblivious because they are used to it.

Yep, normal. I love the way my neighbors houses smell. And I don't think my house smells, but when I come back from a long trip I smell it for a little while

Yep. We all smell different, but since we're so used to our own smell, we don't notice it.

Yes, that's normal. When I first went over to my boyfriend's house I thought that it smelled like hamsters. And no, he doesn't have any hamsters.

Yeah, my aunt's house always used to smell of pine. If I close my eyes and think, I can imagine it. And my grandma's house.

If you go on holiday for a couple of weeks, when you come back you can smell your own house smell.

Yes, it's normal. Every house has its smell, but when I first came to America I noticed that houses here have another kind of smell. A similar smell, and they all have this smell. I can't never really explain it.

I don't like smelling other people's houses. I don't mind it if I'm acutally visiting though. It's when I'm riding my motorcycle or bicycle at night especially, people have their windows and doors open for cool air, you get a whiff when you ride by. Some houses smell good, but mostly I smell people's nasty cats and dirty carpet or fried food.

Yes, I moved to a different state when I was a teenager and the new house had a weird smell. It wasn't bad, it just smelled of a stranger's home. I never got use to it. My parents lived in that house for nearly 15 years and it always smelled like a stranger's home. They have a different house now and it doesn't smell weird at all.
