So I dated this guy, we'll call him Jeff, for ten months, but it was the year before we started high school. Anyway, we broke up (obviously) but stayed pretty good friends. Through the first year of high school, we got much closer; I helped him through his parents divorce and always listened when he needed someone to talk to about his dad's affair/ fiancee. So soon we just told each other everything, and I always could talk to him and knew I could trust him with anything. We started referring to each other as our best friend. He had a close guy friend, too, but Jeff would tell me things that he wouldn't even tell the other guy. Well it's a couple years into high school now, and he started dating one of my friends. They seemed happy, and I was really happy for them. But she got super mad he was talking to me so much (even though she knew that I have a boyfriend and that Jeff and I were super close), so Jeff stopped talking to me. My question is: is it normal for a guy to choose his girlfriend over his "best friend"?

    Unfortunately it is normal that he would choose his present girlfriend over you. It is possible though, I am guessing now, depending on how much he likes you, he could either get in another fight with her or tell her that he wants to talk to you still or talk to you secretly which wouldn't really be good.

    if he was really ur friend...he shud tell his gf dat cnt nuthin cum btwn yall...i got a bf and i hve a male dats my bestfriend..ns before my bf and i got serious i told him dat...i got a male friend dat i luv and talk to often...he understood it....its not lyk der is sum to hide....unfortunately he wasn't ur friend

    always remember, everything changes. its a bummer that it happened, but he may want to be with her for awhile and is trying to please her. maybe reassuring her about your unique relationship would put her at ease? similar situation happened to me but i never dated the guy.. also your in high school. after graduation youll mostlikely never see half of your graduating class ever again..

    As a guy I will vouch for the fact that we make horrendously stupid mistakes. This is one of them, for some reason we make the choice to chose the new girl friend over the long time friend ship. It's a wast and he will regret it. (really what chance dose a relationship have if one party can not accept the other patty's best friend?) good luck and I'm sorry for your loss

    Yes, its normal. I'm a guy and however "messed up" or wrong it seems for him to pick his girlfriend over you for a guy this is a rather simple choice. I mean its his "girlfriend" and obviously he cares about her and values their relationship no matter how close you may be to him.
    Sorry if I sound kinda mean and blunt about this.

    My so called best friend did that too I deleted his contact from my phone and try not to think about him anymore.

    Dude thts horrible. Confront tht asshole and tell his girlfriend u 2 r just best friends. There's nothin to worry about. An try to b friends with her.

    It's normal but it sucks. It'll be horrible when they break up and he'll try to win your friendship back.

    It's normal I think to an extent. If he has a new girl in his life she's obviously the one who comes first and if that's what makes her happy then that's what he will probably do. Sorry your bummed out but yes I think it's normal for him to do that
