Is it normal for her to be so cheery one day and so miserable the next

I have a best friend (i'm a guy, she's a girl). We talk every single day for pretty much the whole day, whether it be texting, calling, msn, etc. However lately I've been noticing a pattern. One day she'll be really happy and talk alot, joke around and laugh and such, and the next day it's like a switch is flipped and she barely talks and seems really uninterested in carrying on a conversation. She even ignored one of my calls for the first time ever today.

Now she's going on a trip for 3 months, and exams (university) are coming up in a week for her, so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it? Is this a normal thing for her to go through? It happens quite a few times unfortunately =(

this sounds like bi-polar to me, she may have bi-polar disorder with rapid cycling where your moods shift drastically from day to day.

I'm like that , pretty hot and cold, on n offish , I'm just moody - or , maybe your seeing to much of her , that's another thing that does it to me.

Could be a sign of a mental health problem, could just be stress due to exams and university etc. Try not to confront her about anything, but perhaps keep a watchful eye on her, if she does have a mental condition the chances are soon enough she will do something very strange/drastic.

This happens to me a lot :/ But as soon as I got enough rest, it subsided. :)
