Is it normal for guys to be prideful when they're in love?

do guys lose their pride and ego when they love someone? or if they have this big sense of pride, will they always have it even if they come across someone they love?

My bf isn't that openly prideful but once you get to know him, he does have an ego but also uses it to protect himself. However, I wonder if he loves me or at least thinks special of me. I wish he can swallow his pride like Ive done with him. It has been so easy for me to because I love him. When you love someone, you have no pride; you don't care if you look weak, dumb, ugly, etc. You'll do anything for that person because their existence makes you happy. It is nice to know that he has kind of brushed off his ego when he's with me but he barely does it. Sometimes he just doesn't want to do something that I would do for him and it obviously hurts. I dont know if thats just who he is or he doesn't love me that much. Is it normal for guys to still carry their pride when in love? or does love erase everyones ego including guys'?
