Is it normal for females to have a stomach that sticks out?

In all the magazines and pictures on the internet, females always have these really flat stomachs.

I'm pretty thin, but my stomach still sticks out. I think it's looks distasteful and am afraid to let anybody see or wear a swimsuit as it might show.

My sister has it like me, but my friend's stomach is really flat so I'm confused as to what's normal.

Is it my diet which is making my stomach bulge slightly?

Please help. Is this normal?

there's nothing wrong with a little pudge, i find it more attractive and adds character more than if there was just a flat boring nothingness.
but if you don't want it, then it's a combination of not eating any junkfood, and excercise. there's plenty of youtube videos of good ab workouts to follow. and as far as people say doing crunches go, that's good, but it will only flatten out your upper abs, leaving girls with a pooch on the bottom row of abs. to help with that do leg raises/heals to the heavens, and reverse crunches

The only time it's normal is when you're pregnant...

  • Also, if you think I'm lying about sucking in the belly; I can show you a before and after picture if you'd like to see. I have been sucking in a lot for he past 4 days and it has made a difference. I use to do the same thing last summer too and I just started sucking my belly in again recently.

    • It seriously works? Doesn't that hurt though? It's not a natural thing to do so I can't imagine it being good for you... o.o

      • No, it doesn't hurt. Although, it's not the most fun way to get a flatter belly. It's easy to do and is great for people that don't want to do too much effort. I doubt it's unhealthy either. If anything I think it would improve health and posture. It's not like it will move around the insides of your body like people that wear corsets for lots of years.

As long as you don't have rolls you're fine. I'm not really into stick figures.

  • Mine sticks out after eating but, I found something that works for me. I suck in my belly a lot and it makes my belly flatter. I try to suck in my belly for atleast 4 hours, sometimes more. Also instead of the 7-8 hours of sleep you can try 9 hours.

nah, just work on your abdominal muscles. it's also good to develop your core muscles so they can support your lower back better. if you don't have any excessive weight then your diet is not the problem.

    • Thanks for commenting. :) Do you know any good exercises for developing the muscles I need to work on?

it sounds like you have bloating which can be caused by low intestinal flora, low flora can also allow candida ( yeast overgrowth) to become over populated and these micro organisms cause gasses in the stomach hence the bloating, Go to a good health shop and ask them for probiotic. I recommend you cut back on the sugar intake in your food as this increases the candida making more bloating. I have this and it is very uncomfortable and dont wear bathing suits, :/ I am yet to buy the probiotic.

one more thing! it would be good if you stay on the probiotics for at least one month because it takes time to build up the good flora (good bacteria) to get results. =)
