Is it normal for customers to lie about me

I work in a deli. I'm generally a nice person to my customers, but lately people have been lying about things I said. Customers tell my boss the most absurd things. They say I wouldn't slice a certain amount of meat. They lie about how I treat them. Is this normal? Do they just not like something about me? Why are they trying to get me fired?
