Is it normal for christians to want to be involved in black metal?

I recently discovered some bands, crappy bands in my opinion, that are christian and play dark/death metal. The two/three seem completely different from one another, so different that they are antithesis to each other. Should christians want to be involved in this stuff? It seems to me like a black guy being in a white supremacist band (okay, maybe a bit far, but you get what I'm saying).

  • Oh sleeper and Underoath are both Christian bands. They are two of the heaviest bands in the genre of metal, pure aggressive and brutal. They talk about the light. Metal is only a style. Lyrics and intentions are down to the artist.

Hahaha, that's funny. Those bands are pussies. Try some Deeds of Flesh or Marduk.

  • @ Dmetal - Oh sleeper are not pussies man. You sound like a narrow minded retard. Those bands you mention totally lack musical skill. Their guitars sound fucking rubbish. Stay at the bottom with that filth.

Considering the predilection of many Christians with death (and subsequent rebirth), it doesn't seem all that odd to me. Death is a common and recurring them, so just that aspect seems like a solid connection, although they'd obviously have to omit Satanic references. Honestly, I've always thought any so-called "Christian Metal" has sucked. This won't be an exception.

I've generally found the actual music (instrumental) is ok, the nature of the lyrcis in Christian Metal are just annoying though.

Google Billy Connolly on this: to quote him about christians and rock music: (strong glasgow accent) "It's not for them!"
