Is it normal for carpenter bees to get high with me?

I have a large deck. All wood. Damn bees chewed holes for as long as ive owned the home. They have a few main holes they come back to each year. I tried to get rid of them long ago and I was bit by a wasp instead. So I've made peace with them, the bees. Not wasps. And I usually go out on my back porch to smoke. And I've been noticing the bees always come out when I smoke and hover near me, like they want a free high. After we smoke, and I begin to leave they all behind to... Fight? Wrestle? I don't know, it could be passionate hugging. I don't know. (ps how long do bees live?)

    Yeah man, they're just freeloaders. Don't buy into their nirvana crap. Tear gas those buggers right up their "main holes" and have an electric fly swatter/riot shield waiting for them.

    If it werent for bees' pollination we would not have crops or any grown food! plus honey (which i eat daily and love) they feed us! so we need them.

    Yeah man. This is just your normal average behavior for bees. Theyre assholes. They do this to me too. Ill being smoking or grilling or whathaveyou and they just come out a beg like I'm going to give them a whiff of my joint or a free steak. Stupid bees.

    But no, pot is a plant and theyre probably just attractted to the smell
