Is it normal for an only child that is 50 plus to live with his mom?

my husband is 50 plus years old and thought it would be a good idea to have his almost 80 yr old mom -(but I like to call her "sack of crap" cause that is how her attitude is to me..-)to come live with us so he can keep an eye on her even though up until the age of 70 she lived alone..we have been married 2 years only and have lived with her for one whole year..imagine that? so in a sense I only enjoyed living with him for just one year with out her cuz now the fat cow is here to mess it all up

Starting looking for retirement homes, find a good one, and make the case that that home can take much better care of his mom than you and he ever could.

Well could always leave him and get a divorce. How long did you know him before you married him?

        • 2 years....and yes I could get divorced but than it would mean they just "used me" to buy a 5 bedroom house with 1/3rd of my money that I saved all my life and that is just not right

Hmm... maybe consult a lawyer on the division of property in your state.

  • It sounds more like his mom would live with him that he would live with his mom. I think that's normal.
