Is it normal for an older man to have a crush on a teenaged girl?

I am a happily married man, in my early 40s. I am not looking to have a relationship with anyone. I believe, though, that just because someone is married doesn't mean they stop finding other women attractive.

At my church there is a girl who is around 14. She looks and acts older than that though. Not in a trashy way, she just carries herself in a very mature manner. She also happens to be very attractive, probably one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen.

I also found out that she will be my assistant when I teach class there. I was happy to hear this.

I have no desire to actually do anything inappropriate with her for a multitude of reasons. I just can't help really liking her and appreciating how she looks. Is this normal?

    I had a crush on an 84 year-old woman once, but she was rather senile and kept calling me "Leroy", which as any fool knows, is not my name at all.

    The fact I am happily married, her parents would kill me, there's no way in hell she'd be attracted to me anyway even if I wanted to do something, which I don't.

    Echoes... I know what you are saying. But it should be safe, we're in a room full of other people. I'm not happy because I think it will give me an opportunity to do something, I am just happy because I'll get to know her and spend time with her platonically.

    Doggy, I know, trust me. This isn't even a case of "if I were single". I do believe in the half-your-age-plus-seven guideline. :) I just admire her beauty, and that's as far as it can go.

      We're both men and we know where these things lead to. Dude, you can't even control your desire to merely see her, do you think you can control your desire to do more than that???? I doubt it.

      I hope you know what you're doing and you won't bring misery into your life.

    Having a crush is very normal and age is completely irrelevant, but acting on the crush when you're married is very wrong. And being happy about her assisting you in the class is not a very good sign. Skip the class or have her replaced.
