Is it normal for an atheist...

To celebrate Christmas and Easter? To believe in reincarnation? To say "oh my god" when i truthfully dont believe in any god?

It's possible to believe in no supreme god and yet believe in reincarnation. It's called Buddhism. (I'm oversimplifying my religion here but I was an atheist for a short time until I decided to convert.)

Also, the rest of the stuff is normal and cultural--your family probably still celebrates those holidays, and everyone says "oh my God".

Atheists reject all religion and superstition including reincarnation. I think you are an agnostic rather than an atheist, and this gives you more room to indulge in Christmas and belief in reincarnation.

Yes, because these things are only norms. Except reincarnation, thats ridiculous.

Absolutely normal: the idea of god (sometimes) seems utterly silly-- but Christmas is ALWAYS a freaking cool holiday! It's just like celebrating Halloween without believing in ghosts. Holidays are awesome.

Saying "Oh my god" actually makes MORE sense for you than for theists--if you believe in god, it's normally said he's pretty pissed off when you say that. If you don't believe in god, blaspheme away!

atheism is just sort of putting everybody who doesnt believe in a god in the same category, i think that there are many variations and we shouldnt have just the atheist stereotype or the agnostic because agnostic means you are sort of undecided in what u believe in. so really you should be able to take the best parts of atheism and religion to live ur life happily.

I'm an Atheist. I celebrate both Christmas and Easter. Christmas actually started out as a pagan holiday and was later adopted by the Christians. I think of Christmas as a time to celebrate friends and family. It's not religious for me. Easter for my family (mainly being atheists) is merely tradition since my parents grew up with it, and their parents grew up with it, etc.
And saying "oh, my God", what else would we really say? So many people say "oh, my God" that it's not really about God anymore, it's just a phrase.

Christmas yields presents. Easter yields boiled eggs. Saying "oh my god" is something that we've all heard so much, it is almost innate to say it when surprised.

The only thing a little out of place for an atheist is the reincarnation thing. But, I guess, the best thing about being an atheist is that we have no boundaries to belief. :3

  • I'm an Atheist too.

I don't think the holiday season (Christmas) has to be about religion, in fact it didn't even start out as a Christian holiday until almost 400 years after Jesus Christ was born, before that it was a pagan celebration of the winter solstice.

Anyway, most of the holidays we have today are more about getting together with family and feasting, so all the power to you.

Some would argue that you can't be an atheist and believe in reincarnation, but I think that's up to you. After all, the word atheist comes from the Greek word Atheos, which means; without gods.
