Given all the news about the burning of the Quaran, the 9/11 anniversary, the opposition to building Mosques everywhere, I wonder if we Americans have an irrational hatred or fear of Muslims. I think we do. What do you think?
The people who bombed the twin towers were only hiding behind religion. They needed another reason to hate us an they chose religion. I don't think you should hate Muslims because some are nice and some are stupid fanatics just like some christians. You are just creating a stereo-type of Muslims.

It's not irrational, but it is incredibly insulting to muslims. Don't be manipulated by the media into thinking an entire faith is your enemy. The only people who are your enemy are those who would seek to hurt you, regardless of their religion (or lack thereof).
First of I'm not Muslim but feel the need to voice my opinion in defence of Muslims. Any1 thick enough to hate Muslims as a whole because of 9/11 r dumb fucks. Pure Muslims 99% of their population believe in what's actually written in the Quran, to live a peaceful n decent life. It's not their fault extremists manipulate the religion to peruse their own evil acts. Islam is o e of the oldest religions and should b given the respect it deserves.

Ideally, no not entirely normal. In actuality, given circumstances, yes. There is a lot of misunderstanding. I would be leary, however...
Has the US done crap to piss of the Muslim world? Absolutely. Has the Muslim world reacted violently against innocents? Yes.
But it's a case of a nation versus a religion.
What bothers me is that Islam has the goal of taking over/converting the world. All too often, the diasporae are "nice" until they reach critical mass and a local (radical) cleric takes power, and then encourages jihad and are advocates of coerced conversion.
Christianity converted most of Europe by the sword not too long ago.
The problem is that no one wants to stand up to radicalism, until it is too late, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are perfect fuel for the would-be-radicals' fires.
The best way to disarm radicalism is to de-fuse its members before it's too late. Be active with a loving, selfless world view, and support peace and justice everywhere. Punish violent radicalism in all cases.
So, I think the US needs to leave the Muslim world for a while, to let the hate die down for a generation or so. I think things would mellow out and lead to a safer world for generations to come.

There are many good muslims out there. Unfortunately, there are extremists that want us all fucking dead. It is unfortunate that this extremism manifests today in such a religion, it could be anything really -- but thats how it is. I think it is normal to fear and even hate one's limited view of an idiology based off of constant bombarding of information from DHS, news etc on al-queada and terrorism. I dont think there is anything unrational about that, after seeing the 9/11 attacks, i would think it is unrational to not be concerned as a US citizen.

Sadly I do think it's normal that a lot of Americans have an irrational fear/hatred of Muslims, because of the impact of 9/11 and because the media has a tendency to paint them in a negative light. However, I can personally attest to the fact that they are not all bad people, because my brother and I have a mutual best friend who is a Muslim from Iran. He and his family are no different from any other family we've known over the years. In fact, our friend is one of the kindest, most respectful teenage boys I've ever met.
