Well I recently went on vacation to London and
I realized that about 75% of the people that I met there had yellow teeth or bad breath. I'm not trying to insult anyone because the people there were very kind to myself and my family. I had a blast. That was just a question in the back of my mind. It was kind of gross.
Not all British people have bad teeth! I know, I'm British my teeth are nice. Because you had that initial misconception you probably came to the UK looking for bad teeth. Maybe some people don't brush their teeth, doesn't mean we all do.
That is the furthest thing from the truth. Most if not all of the people I know have good teeth, most from braces. It does depend on the class of people you surround yourself with (as awful as that sounds) but then again not necessarily because people can also get their teeth fixed on the NHS. So basically no, not all British people has horrible teeth, in fact I would bet my life that more British people have good teeth than bad teeth.
I'm British and I do not have perfect teeth. But I think it's because we don't necessarily consider it important, of course anyone with a brain keeps their teeth clean and looks after their mouth but what I'm saying is, we're not so bothered about aesthetics.
It's not so much a lack of good dentists either so much as just a general lack of dentists, it's getting harder to find and stay with a surgery.
So that's my thoughts. But what are teeth in the end? Just something you chop and mush food with lol.
To be fair i'm english and agree that english teeth are worse then U.S however what do you expect when it costs £50 just to make the appointment.... i paid my dentist £120 for 10 mins work when i earn £6.50 an hour...do the math...
If you came to London just to peek in peoples mouth then YOUR not normal. There is nothing wrong with British teeth it's just the hearing of that stupid steryotype makes you think that.
I love stereotypical English Teeth! You know, not all English people have tea stained or crooked teeth.
Its because we realise that teeth can be healthy without being perfectly white. Our dentists only notice health problems, not cosmetic issues.
Also, we have lots of sugar in our food, and not enough education in our schools to make sure people brush their teeth daily. It ain't genetic though, 'cause my parents have crap teeth, but most kids I know have fine teeth, including me.
I'm from Wales and I and everyone I know has good teeth but hey when I went to America 75% of people I saw were overweight oh wait... just joking :) stereotypes are fucking the world over these days... sad
I'm British and my teeth are perfect thanks very much if anything I'm a bit over the top with my teeth I have a twinkly smile lol other words we don't all not take care of our teeth just some. Stop being so dramatic lol.
My experience from living in England is... that they lack GOOD dentists. They failed to see the most obvious things. Which is why, almost everyone I know who's moved there, my family and I would always fly go to the dentists when visiting relatives in mainland Europe.
I actually have that conception as well about the British. But not just yellow teeth or bad breath, but crooked teeth too. Maybe it's just bad genes or they are not as worried about their looks as people in America. Wait, I'm sure that's the case.
