Is it normal for a youth organization to be overly strict?

I belong to a youth organization for girls 11-21. There is a very strict dress code (white dresses, pure white, white shoes, no jeans.) The organization has been around since the '20s and the organization prides itself on its tradition. We have to memorize our stations and parts (like a play) and we have to take our ritual work very seriously.
The adults in charge are very strict about everything and I like to say that they have their panties in a bunch over every little thing. I'm president now and I don't always know my parts to perfection but I have been a good president and have done a lot for the organization. The advisers are really strict "getting us ready for life" as the logo goes, but the only skills that the advisers are teaching us are how to memorize our parts, dress uniformly, how to make events, and to be obedient.
This organization takes control over every girl's calendar much the same as a being involved in a team sport would. We are supposed to be obedient. The ritual never changes, leaving lessons (I can't share the lessons, its a rule) put in during the '20s, still in place.
I found out recently that the advisers have been singling me out even though I have done a good job as president.
Anyways, is it normal for an organization and for adult leaders to be overly strict in a youth organization?

Well it depends on organization. I'm in both Boy Scouts & JROTC. Scouts are pretty laid back, & each school has dig ROTC standards. But ROTC also is heavily military based, & you don't need to do anything outsides class if u don't wanna. Is yours a school organization or no?

No it isn't, its called International Order of the Rainbow for Girls aka IORG. It is a Masonic organization meaning it is sponsored by the Masons. ROTC is different because it prepares you for the military. Thanks
