Is it normal for a guy to claim that the reason he can't come when you give him a blowjob for the first time is that he's nervous?

We hadn't really done anything sexual before that night, and so yes, I can see where there might have been a bit of nervousness. I was nervous too, of course. But he got hard in under a minute while we were making out, but then when I went to jerk him off/blow him, he couldn't come. He got horrified by it and started apologizing, stating that he was nervous, but of course, as I am sure it would to anyone else, it has got me wondering whether that is the real case, or if I was doing something wrong.

He has said he wants to have sex with me, something we've planned for soon, but I am nervous and worried it will happen again.

    It might take him a few times before he can relax enough to enjoy it. My first time took a very long time, Vaginal was eh, and the blowjob was eh, but it took her another 20 minutes of switching between blowjob and handjob before I finally got off. It wasn't anything either of us was doing wrong, it was just nerves and new experiences. Its quite possible he goes "numb" from it, where he can still stay hard, but because of the moisture involved it causes a foreign sensation, that his body has to adjust to.
