Is it normal for a woman to return to an abusive ex-boyfriend

i know a woman who was in a 20 year relationship with a man who beat her, and verbally abused her, she had the police remove him from her home and had a restraining order against him, but when the restraining order was lifted, she is now hanging out with him AGAIN even though he is living with another woman in an open relationship, i saw her the other day with him and i was shocked is this normal?

it's absolutely normal, it's happened to me before. in abusive relationships, sometimes the person being abused is manipulated into believing they'll never find anyone else, and they can be told they're unworthy of love and they should take what they can get, because they're ugly/unintelligent/any number of mean things. plus, society teaches people that, if they suspect they're being abused, they're probably just making it up, causing them to downplay the very real forces and issues in play in their own lives, and they could return to the relationship thinking things weren't as bad as they initially thought and ignoring their gut feeling. I really hope everything works out for the best with this woman, and kudos to you for taking the first step and trying to get information to benefit her safety and wellbeing! *high-five!*

This is normal in that he may have been the only man to give her the attention she needed. It might not have been the best relationship but it was all that she had. Just like my ex wife and her father. The sexual abuse became my ex's want and need. She ended up wanting him sexually as often as she could get him to do her. He was the only adult male that gave her attention.

Im abusive to my men no matter how big and beautiful as Sug Knight they get, I knock their asses out when they think they can have their way with me. This is my way of never falling into a victim. Also my children will never be abused. The men I slapped around are madly in love with me and beg on their knees for sex. I act like i never knew them. So call me a control freak better than being a victim anyday. Im only 5'3 165lbs very loving but the bitch in me suprises even me sometimes .

You know if she'd stop her perplexing fascination with masculine dominant men you'd find someone who wasn't a jerk. This isn't the Stone Age anymore where you might be killed by a robber if your man wasn't Mad Max enough.

it is sadly all to normal. You think you can fix them that if you were a better wife they would change.

i am currently in a situation in which i am involved with a man who is alcoholic and bipolar although i am not a drinker, its hard for me to let go because i have a hard time meeting guys and i feel like he is my last resort, also is it normal for alcoholics to only like to be around other drinkers, he only seems to like to be with his friends who drink, and i feel left out
