Is it normal for a wife and her husband to go to the movies weekly?

How often is it normal for a husband/wife to go to the movies? Are their lives empty if they need outside entertainment so often?

Is a once a week movie date normal?

at least they're keeping it in the same species.

            • I dont think every single one of those people are actually "making up" those particular stories.

Um yeah it's normal. My boyfriend and I go to the movies once or twice a week simply because we like seeing movies.

  • In all honesty pretty abnormal, sounds to me like there is trouble in paradise. How long have they been married? If its a longer time they really should have settled into their roles of just nodding at one another when they both get home, not saying anything at dinner (which the wife cooks by the way) and then watching separate television shows before going to bed and sleeping in separate bedrooms if all is going well. Sex should have stopped long ago as well, especially if they had children and the wife has put on the inevitable 50-60 extra lbs that they all do.

Sounds to me like they are trying to convince everyone else all is well, when it is anything but.

    • You've captured my thoughts perfectly!

In all the marriages I've seen that last until old age, they couples have been just like you describe. The couples where they are always doing stuff and going on holidays and to social stuff, well they always seem to end in tears and one or other of them meets a new love during their outings....see, they were obviously not enough for each other in the first place.

I think dj was being sarcastic.

going out doesn't cause cheating. people being selfish causes that

the problem is that... it's not "going out" that's causing cheating
            it's selfishness that does it

            • Not directly, but I've noticed an obsessive need for "going out" to be symptomatic of deeper troubles.

I totally disagree with the poll outcome. Movies that often are for people with no lives.
