Is it normal for a person in a relationship to talk to people online?

Not going out and deliberately seeking new people to talk to, but talking to people who that person has been friends with for longer than the person whom they are in a relationship with? There's nothing "shady" going on, and the relationship has good communication.

    My ex-wife started that way. Then she started cyber-talking to strangers. The topics turned. They met. We divorced.
