Is it normal for a nail to stop growing?

I've depended on my nails for a while when it comes to guitar. They usually only take a month to grow out to hang nails. Only a few months ago my right index finger nail had grown extremely slowly. When it did it came out really small and unevenly shaped so I had to trim it and start over. Now all my other nails have grown and my index finger remains the same down to the nub. Is it normal and is there a way to fix it?

No I just file them down to shape when they get too long. I only cut the ones on my left hand since I don't need them.

I can't say I've ever experienced something like that myself, and I've never heard of it happening before. I might talk to a doctor about it; he or she would most likely be better able to answer your questions.

If you want them to grow you need to take care of your cudicles, push them back and moisturize. The quality of your nails depends on what you eat. You can take suplements with ceratine, biotin and zink. Or you can buy products to put on the nails to make the grow.
