Is it normal for a mole to turn into a scab?

I was lightly scratching at an itchy spot on my skin, then when I looked at it, I realised that the spot was where a mole was supposed to be, but it turned into what looks like a scab. Actually, I'm not entirely sure that it is a scab because it's so tiny, but it is raised and has gone a little darker, and I could probably pick it off if I wanted to (which I don't). It was itchy for a few days, but it hasn't been for a while.

I will be going to a doctor to get it checked out, but I was wondering if anyone else has had a mole that changed similar to the way that mine has. I've done an internet search and haven't found any images or descriptions of moles that look or sound like anything I have.

    I hate to say, but your "scab" sounds like a melanoma. These are cancerous. I hope you got it treated before it manifested itself as full cancer.

    Dude, that's melanoma. I had one just like that. Get it cut off ASAP, it'll only get worse.

    See a doctor to make sure. Until then, don't pick/scratch it. Don't make it irritated or bleed.

    I have, yes. I'll be honest and say I didn't get it checked out but it kind of just healed up of its own accord. I'm obviously going to say you should get yours checked out (even if I don't take my own advice).

    Very normal, dom't worry. When I was young, I tried picking at my mole and scratching it off. There was a scab but after I peeled the scab off, the mole is still there and even became bigger
