Is it normal for a mole to change shape/colour???

I'm 18 year old female, Recently I have discovered the mole which i have on the back of my leg has changed...
It is less round than it was (misshaped) and now has darker shades and different color patches in it? It hasn't changed size that much though but it is about 1cm big.

I am very pale and have been badly sunburnt in the past which I believe increases my chances of getting skin cancer?
but I've heard people only develop it at an older age?

I'm curious to why this mole has changed... should I get it checked out or am I just overreacting?

    Please see a doctor as soon as you can. This is not a good sign.

    Moles changing shape, especially irregularly-shaped moles are a possible sign of cancer. Please go to a doctor and get that checked out.

    That might be something worse than a mole. If it's changing, you might want to get it checked.
