Is it normal for a man to cry ?

Me and my husband and his brother have our own band were doing our first show Memorial Weekend at our cookout my husband is worried because he's the lead singer we have some sad songs on on set list he's worried he might not be able to sing some without crying. Some of the he doesn't cry to anymore but some he does. They made him sad since he was a kid when he hears them he cries like a baby. The concerts we go to when the band or singers sings sad songs they don't cry he says he tries to be brave like them. He's trying to listen to the songs now so he can get use to them again. He wants to know if it's ok for him to cry ? How can I comfort him if he cries ? He's 31 years old

Men and women are human. They deserve the simple right of crying. We advocate gender equality and hence crying is no longer a right for women only. In fact, crying helps to remove toxins from our body which accumulates due to our bad emotion. It is okay to cry, both for men and women.

Yes. That's completely normal. He's a human being; some are more emotional than others, and that has nothing to do with gender.
And this is a good thing for two reasons:

    1. He isn't keeping all of that bottled up. It's great that he can release all that emotional tension.
    2. He really feels the music, and is very attached not only to those songs, but to his performance. Sounds like a great musician. :)

As someone who developed apathy at a young age & is still trying to become as close with music as they once were, I envy him; however, good for you both. ♥

Getting emotional in sad songs is a good thing. At least in the genre I'm into (metal), emotion adds depth to a song that notes and instruments can't. As long he isn't completely bawling his eyes out, tell him its a good thing and cry on!

Normal for anyone to cry but I'm not sure crying when you're performing in public is a good look. Can't he have the set list changed to take out the ones that make him cry?

To comfort him just hold him in your arms until he stops crying and then hand him some tissues

As a performer your job is to deliver a great performance not get so swept up into the material that your overwhelmed by the emotion of it. It doesn't sound like hes emotionally mature enough to be in the role of singer. Sorry if that comes across as harsh but I perform for a living and what you describe is just not acceptable in a professional environment.
