Is it normal for a man never to cry?

my husband is a sweet and caring person, not a macho type at all, but I've never seen him cry. I'm the opposite: sad books, movies or news can easily set me off. He once said "I wish I could cry like you" but that if he started, he wouldn't be able to stop, but I've never even seen him holding back any tears. IIN?

It tends to take a little more to make a man cry. I'm not entirely sure why. But if you see a guy crying you know theres probably something really deeply affecting him. There are of course many other things which can numb someone to crying such as a traumatic past for example. I wouldn't worry about this if it is worrying you at all and I think this is pretty normal. Some people just don't cry.

I've never seen my Dad cry. He grew up pretty hard core so that might explain it. My mom said he did cry when they made the final decision to get divorced and just the thought makes me so sad. I don't think I could handle seeing my Dad cry. Maybe that's why it's not normal to me for men to cry. That doesn't mean I wouldn't feel for them; in fact, the times my ex-boyfriend cried, my heart would completely break.

It's very normal, it usually comes from the personality and background in life. He's probably experienced something in the past that tops all other sad things, thus making it hard for him to get to that stage where cries because he's already experienced something more traumatic, if you get what I mean.

I was the same way until I got sent out to Afghanistan, the stuff you see out there will break your heart.
