Is it normal for a guy to wear the same clothes everyday and smell?

Nearly everyday I sit next to this guy who wore the same outfit from september to just a few days ago. At first he didn't smell. So I presumed he washed his clothes, but then gradually he began to smell worse and worse, up to the point that I could tell he'd arrived with my eyes shut and my headphones in. It was kind of a sickly smell. not like usual bad male smell. different somehow. but bad. I nearly had a heart attack the other day when I turned to see him in dressed differently and smelling less than usual. I didn't know he was there, he's really shy and I couldn't smell him come in. He's a nice guy though don't get me wrong. And we're a too old to say child neglect, but I worry about him, his fingers are all purple like bruises around the knuckles/fingernails and maybe he just doesn't own any other clothes, he's only wearing the new clothes now. i'm worried but don't know if i should say anything to him...

Since you've taken interest in the specimen, you should at least make contact with it and learn its way through communication. Ultimately you will learn why this being has chosen to be what it has become. Befriend it and help it become a person, teach it the norms and values of the social structure and any other conventional ways of life one needs to progress in its lifespan of normality. Boost its morale and the payoff will help both of you, the probability of smell will cease, unless of course the organism is defective and in need of medical repair, and you will undoubtedly feel better or at least be able to brag to the locals about how to tamed the foul beast and it will transcend its ways into a happier lifestyle. All it takes is a push

      Haha that made me laugh.

I do think that you should talk to him though. Maybe there is something wrong. Wearing the same clothes all the time and having bashed up knuckles aren't exactly what one would call normal. On the other hand, it could always turn out that he just doesn't give a damn about how other people see him and think of his habits, but talking to him won't hurt. As you said, he's an alright guy.

Oh, and when I say talk, I don't mean just going up to him say "uh dude..why do you wear the same clothes all of the time and smell and have bruised up hands?" Just get to know him better and gradually get to find out more.

Yup its so normal that half of people like you have BO cause of it being so normal. All you need to do is get some new clothes so you have other things to wear and go to the laundry shop.

I would suppose it would depend on living situations. Is he homeless and does not have a place to do hygeine, does he have other clothes to wear? If he has clothes and the resources to shower, then I think it is completely disgusting. I know somebody that evidentally does not like to shower, and when he sweats he smells like white castle. It almost makes me barf and dont think I dont tell him that he has got to shower, so no I dont think it is normal. Literally I have to leave the area or I will barf. That is bad. I just dont understand how, if somebody smells that bad, they dont smell themselves.
