Is it normal for a guy to wear a brown leather jacket?

I am a 37 year old guy. I have this brown leather bomber jacket that nobody likes. All of my friends say it is out of style and make fun of me for it. I love it though. Yes, it literally looks like shit, but I feel like a badass when I wear it and it is like a second skin to me. Is this normal?

They are dated but whatever. People say I dress like a burglar.

As long as the jacket is in good condition, I see no problem. I'd see an issue if the jacket was tattered and broken, but you didn't say it was.
    :)

The coolest jacket I've ever seen was the one Bruce Willis was wearing in Pulp Fiction when he went to retrieve his watch. What a badass jacket that was. Suede too. Does your jacket look anything like that?

Hell yeah. About the same color, but shinier and with a regular collar.

Why would you give two shits what your 'friends' say about wearing an item of clothing you like? Does everything thing you wear and do have to be approved of by these 'friends'?
Wear what you like and everybody else be damned. Clothes do NOT make the man. A man chooses to live by his own conscience, not by the pack mentality.

Maybe his friends are being honest and telling him what he needs to hear?

Wearing stylish clothes that fit properly and aren't all tattered and nasty can greatly improve many aspects in life. Kinda like how showering and getting a haircut can. Do you suggest not showering even if your 'friends' all do it and suggest it to you?

What good does going around looking like a bum do? Oh hey I am comfortable going around in pj's, bed hair and stinking, don't judge me! But people do judge and people who are sloppy in appearance miss out on opportunity and often rightfully so since it's pretty lazy to not clean up once in a while. It's also a waste of life to look worse than you have to if just a small change could rectify that.

See, that's the whole point. Maybe what you think looks good isn't someone else's idea of cool.
All these guys that walk around with two day's beard on them think they look so cool. Even in movies. To me it looks like the guy is too lazy to shave.
If you want to dress one way, who's to say that's the right way, either? Conforming to society may be a necessity for some, but don't expect others to feel comfortable being one of the herd.

I had one a long time ago and I cringe thinking about it. I don't even know what I was thinking then. I wore it with hunter green converse shoes.

It's one of those things that doesn't look good on anybody really and they have not been in style since the exciting early age of aviation and a brief time after Top Gun came out.

Do yourself a favor and get something that looks good on you. Wearing nice clothes that fit well can really change your life.

I like that mental image of you in green converse in a brown jacket lol

But it just take a man/or woman with that special umph to pull it off

It was bad. I was like 14 and honestly I had a sweeeeet bod but I chose to wear baggier mens style clothing. It was a mens jacket :( It was the 90's and I was half in that earthy thing and half in hip hop and had no sense in even picking out nice things in my chosen genres.
