I don't think it odd that she told her mother, depending on how detailed the description. Seems odd that her mother would then mention it to you though.
It's not strictly a common thing (so technically probably not normal), but it's by no means unhealthy. Until pretty recently (1960ish) in America and most of Europe, mothers were a girl's go-to shoulder to cry on, sounding board, confessional, and life-experience resource. In many parts of Asia and Africa this is still true.
The only thing in your post that strikes me as strange is that the mom then informed you that she knew. I tell my mom a lot (not as much as your girlfriend, but a lot), and she's always very discreet.

At least she's honest with her mother and not sneaking around like most teenagers people. Maybe going into detail is a bit much though. I would probably suggest talking with her about what kind of subjects you don't feel comfortable with her sharing with her mother/others that you two do together.
