Is it normal for a girl to ask for a guy's number?

I don't see it as desperate like everyone else might judge about it but there is still something weird to me when I think of this. When asking for a number, I think of flirting with the person like in a dominating way so a guy comes to mind, not a girl. I see the girl like "um hi, can I get your number?" where as to a guy is more of "hey girl you looking blah blah blah". In other words, I feel that the guy can pull of hitting on better than a girl because the girl is more of the target and the cheesy flirting is more natural/traditional for a guy to do. With that being said, I can only see a guy trying to get a girl's digits, not vice versa. What do you guys think? And if a girl were to get at a guy for a number, how can she possibly do it without coming up too aggressive for being female? Also, how do you males feel about a girl trying to get your number? Turn on or Turn off?

Im a guy and girls should not try to get guys' numbers, its a turn off 5
Im a girl, the guy is more in charge of THAT job for flirting reasons 11
Im a guy, girls can get a guy's number, it's a turn on 65
Im a girl, nothing wrong getting a # if it's not in a freaky way 28

Again... gender should not determine who takes responsibility

I'm honestly too scared to get a guy's number, it feels so akward and I get so nervous just thinking about it>.< I would rather have a guy ask for my number because I just know that if I ask a guy for his, I'll mess up with my wording or I'll make it akward

  • If a girl asks me for my number I will give it to them but I also understand they are filthy whores for doing so. When I meet up with them I degrade them sexually arse to mouth, skull fucking, urinate in them spray my load on them and take a photo.

I have always waited for the guy to ask me for my number. Until recently, I really like this guy and I thought that he likes me too. All of my friends thought that he liked me too. So in conversation I asked for his number and we exchanged numbers and he never called or texted me so now I feel like I will never ever ask for a guys number again. Maybe they like the chase so he is put off by me asking for his number.

Being that girls tend to have more social skills than guys, why can't they?

I'm male and I got asked out a few times.

I didn't act appropriately because it was unexpected and out of the blue. So yeah, I kind of prefer that I ask out girls, so I should have chosen option one.

Yes, hypothetically it could happen but I don't see it realistically going well.

Other: I'm a guy and I don't really think it matters who asks the number.

I like it better when the guy does it. But I do remember this one time in high school when I decided I'd ask a guy for his number. He gave me his number without a problem, but I didn't really like the fact that I asked. Something about it did feel a little weird. And I asked him over instant messenger. That was probably even more stupid, but it was easier for me than face to face at school. I don't remember the exact way I worded it, but it definetly wasn't in a pushy or aggresive way. And I think he was one of those types that just kinda threw his number out there without caring who the heck got it, because he was all over the place with girls. I was probably just another girl on his list. Needless to say, it never actually worked out with that guy. I mean, maybe for a little while it was going good, but in the end I kinda wished I never even bohered with that guy. I was only 15 at the time, anyway. He was just one of those people who played the field. A waste of my time.
