Is it normal for a friend to say you need more friends your own age?

im 20, couple friends i hang out with most the time are over 21, so theyve gone downtown before and all that, and everything has seemed to work out fine. but this past weekend, they ignored me completely, i hadn't done anything to them, they just didnt want to hang out with me the whole day, but wouldnt respond to any calls or texts just to saya, 'hey, i'm busy' or anything like that. no explanation, just ignoring me. so the next day, my closest friend sat down and talked to me about it and basically, what i got from the conversation was that they think i need more friends my own age, that i take texting and answering texts too seriously and now i just feel like i dont really have friends

I don't see why that's anyone's business. Who the f*ck cares what age your friends are? I have this same issue. I'm not friends with anybody my age. My friends are as young as small children to being as old as my mom. Everybody is cool in their own way and I don't see why age should EVER affect friendship.

Don't worry about it, they're not real friends obviously. Love and relationships transcend age and background or race. I'm often in the same boat because I take being a friend very seriously - I'm often intense and take communication very seriously. People get off-put by this and just want to relax and I often end up alone. It's not your fault, it's theirs.

You'll be feeling betrayed and alone right now, but trust me, being alone sometimes is better - you won't get disappointed by dumbass friends. In future, try to be more relaxed about keeping in contact, but never ever change who you are. Being the way you are is not a curse, but a blessing because you see the world differently. They've missed out and frankly, acted quite immaturely. Move on and be happy with you.
