Is it normal for a father to kiss his 19 yr old daughter on the lips

My daughter is home for college and I kiss her on the lips all the time. It is not sexual. Anyways she had all of her friends over and I grabbed her and kissed on the lips. She screamed at me and ran out of the room. Why did she get so upset. She likes it when we are alone but not with other people? She is crazy. No wonder my wife left me.

She likes kissing you when she is alone but not in public. That explains it. Your daughter is a hypocrite.

Ok sooo, I've always pecked my dad on the lips since I was a baby. That is our norm, it may seem strange to some people but that's just what I've been taught to do, I also don't like doing that I front of other people like my friends, aunts, uncles or cousins-because well it's kinda embarrassing now since I'm 19years old, I'm comfortable doing that I front of my siblings and my mom, because well like I said its our norm. Idk why but its just a symbol of affection, it's kinda like a hug, and there is nothing strange or wrong about it. However, the way you are describing it, seems like more than just a peck especially grabbing her to kiss her, you need to know your daughter has boundaries. Just saying

It depends on his culture. In at least most Western and Eastern cultures, kissing on the lips is considered romantic, so if he is a Westerner by culture he should not be doing that. Other cultures had stranger customs: In ancient Manchuria, kissing your baby in public was considered revolting, so instead they sucked their willies which was considered more tasteful to them (no I am not kidding).

In any case, if you are apart of a modern Western or Eastern country then clearly she would be upset since they would misinterpret your customs differently.

I personally don't think it's normal to randomly "grab" your daughter to kiss her on the lips. I kiss both my parents as a hello and goodbye greeting and it's just a peck on the cheek or lips, just a peck. What you're describing doesn't sound like a just a peck and I think it's disrespectful to "grab" an adult child.

I dunno why your wife left you, but I don't think your daughter is the crazy one.
